The Wesley Music Centre Lunchtime concert series is delighted to present Canberra’s Arawang Trio (violin, cello and piano) performing Beethoven’s dramatic and lyrical Piano Trio in C minor and Piazzola’s beautiful and haunting Oblivion.

About the event

The Performers:

Violinist Dobson grew up in Adelaide learning violin from his mother. In his 20s he developed a passion for chamber and orchestral music which led to him becoming concert master of amateur orchestras in Adelaide, Sydney and Canberra. In recent years John has undertaken advanced studies with acclaimed teachers, including Barbara Gilby and Daniel Roehn, and successfully completed an Associate in Music Diploma. John enjoys playing chamber music, choral singing and performing in folk, middle eastern and contemporary music groups.

Cellist Katherine Wilkinson studied with the distinguished cellist Lois Simpson, and has performed as an orchestral, chamber and solo musician. Katherine teaches cello at Orana Steiner School and Radford College and most recently performed with the Resonants choir and in Judith Clingan's The Threshold.

Pianist Stuart Long holds a Bachelor of Music (Performance) from the ANU School of Music, studying with Alan Jenkins and Lillian Tan. During his subsequent musical career, he has continued his studies with outstanding and experienced musicians, including Colin Forbes, Kotaro Nagano and Edward Neeman. He has won various musical prizes and awards, including 1st Prize at the prestigious North Queensland Concerto and Vocal Competition
